Side-events<\/a> | Museum of Technology: Geocaching - Discover, seek and find -exhibition<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the event, you will meet geocachers from Finland and around the world. Come and sense the international atmosphere at Kattilahalli. Geocachers from our neighboring country Estonia and all the way to New Zealand are joining our event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventure Labs will be published in the venue area and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will be added to the pages as it is confirmed and completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lackey interview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Have you always wondered what it is like to be Lackey? Two Geocaching HQ employees also known as Lackeys will arrive to UrbanHEL mega event. Now you have a chance to hear answer to questions you have sent us in advance earlier. On event day 26th of Aug we will interview hleeful<\/em> and Captain_Cookie<\/em>, and we will get answers to question sent to us earlier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sotilaskotiauto food truck<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sotilaskotiauto is a traditional Finnish military cafe truck that usually serves young servicemen. You can buy coffee and other small snacks from the truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiven alla<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kiven alla is the official partner of UrbanHEL. Kiven alla sells the official merchandise of the event. If you missed the preorder you still have a chance to find some items from the shop! The shop is located inside Kattilahalli where you can also find a large variety of geocaching products.

E\/FAT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

E\/FAT electrical fatbikes are designed, produced, imported, and sold by Finnish family company E FAT Finland Oy. E\/FAT shop is in the outside area of the event where you can test drive their bikes!

Jon-Paul Barr<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Jon-Paul is selling geocoins which are left over from his former shop. You can find his shop inside Kattilahalli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Korutasku<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Korutasku is a stone workshop located in the old wool factory at Kehr\u00e4\u00e4m\u00f6 in Orimattila. The product range of Korutasku also includes glasses with trackable numbers and camo stones for geocaching, which you can find at the shop inside Kattilahalli.

University of Eastern Finland<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The researchers of the University of Eastern Finland's UNITE geocache-project are coming to the event to promote their project. You will find their stand inside Kattilahalli. Johanna Hulkko<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Johanna is coming to the event to release her latest book in the Geo Detectives series: Geo Detectives and the Mega Cache<\/a>. During the book launch event, you will have the opportunity to meet Johanna, purchase the book, and get a signature on your brand new book! More detailed information regarding the timings will be announced closer to the event. The language of the book is Finnish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kerava<\/s><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The geoskills competition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The geoskills competition is organized in conjunction with the UrbanHEL Mega-Event at Kattilahalli venue in Helsinki. The game can be started between 10.00 and 16.00 to be able to play for the full time. You must finish the game by 17.00. It's a free of charge game and a fun competition. August 25th, 1 pm - 3 pm UrbanTECH at the Museum of Technology<\/a>
Come to the Museum of Technology to meet other geocachers from around the world. We'll explore the technology behind geocaching, geocaching tools, and trackables. You can also explore the museum's community exhibition: Geocaching - Discover, seek and find. August 26th, 7 pm - 7.30 pm UrbanMEET at Kalasatama<\/a>
We will meet at Kalasatamanpuisto after the Mega event. Meet fellow geocachers and discuss the day's happenings; which caches and lab caches you found, did you meet Signal,, what was the best part of the Mega event, and if there are any other geocaching plans for the evening. Hope you can also attend the Flash mob at the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

August 27th, 11 am - 12.45 pm UrbanCITO at Mustikkamaa<\/a>
Join us on Sunday to clean the area after Venetians (end of summer party). Bring suitable clothing, gloves and trash pickers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the cleaning we will have a potluck picnic. We can discuss what everyone did during the Mega-Event. If you want, you can bring a picnic blanket and\u00a0some\u00a0snacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Museum of Technology: Geocaching - Discover, seek and find -exhibition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is a geocaching exhibition related to the Mega Event at the Museum of Technology, which is open from June 21st to October 1st, 2023. The Museum of Technology is located at Viikintie 1, 00560 Helsinki<\/a>.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition showcases what geocaching is and how the early years of the hobby looked like. There is a diverse display of technologies and tools related to caching including the origin story and promotional video of the first mobile application developed for smartphones. Geocaching has been practiced in Finland for over 20 years. We have approximately 50 000 geocachers (who have found at least one cache in the past year). But what gets people year after year to hide and find caches? One reason might be the community and gamification aspects of geocaching, which the geocachers themselves have specifically developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We suggest you use the Museum card to pay for the entrance.<\/strong>\u00a0Persons lacking the card are entitled to free admission during the Event cache when you mention the code word \"denari\" [DEH-nah-ree]. The code word is valid on Friday 1 pm - 5 pm and on Saturday during museum opening hours 11 am - 6 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
